Register My Pet

The registration service available on our site is open only to the citizens of Longueuil, Saint-Hubert, Greenfield Park, LeMoyne, Boucherville, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville and Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu.

To register your pet, select your municipality:

Citizens of Boucherville
Citizens of Longueuil, Saint-Hubert, Greenfield Park and LeMoyne
Citizens of Saint-Bruno-de Montarville
Citizens of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

Citizens of Boucherville

All dogs owned by Boucherville residents must be licensed. A licence is also available for cats, but it is not mandatory.

Licences are free, and tags cannot be transferred or exchanged.

Boucherville by-laws set the following limits on the number of pets:

  • In residential sectors, keeping more than two pets (dogs and/or cats) in a dwelling and any secondary buildings is prohibited.
  • In the municipality’s other sectors, keeping more than four pets (dogs and/or cats) in a dwelling and any secondary buildings is prohibited.

How do I register my cat or dog for the first time?

  • You can use the online registration service. The licence will be mailed to you within 10 days.
  • You can also register your pet at one of the service points. You will receive a licence on the spot.
  • The registration is valid for your pet’s lifetime and does not have to be renewed.

What do I do if I move or my pet dies?

  • When moving, remember to do change your address to keep your pet’s licence up to date. If your pet is microchipped, contact the microchipping company to have the change made in your file.

Citizens of Longueuil, Saint-Hubert, Greenfield Park and LeMoyne

All cats and dogs owned by citizens of these municipalities must be licensed.

Annual fees:

  • Spayed or neutered dog: $30
  • Non-spayed or non-neutered dog: $35
  • Spayed or neutered cat: $5
  • Non-spayed or non-neutered cat: $10
  • Licences are free for all service animals.

Registration fees are non-refundable, and tags cannot be transferred or exchanged.

Longueuil by-laws allow for a maximum of five pets per dwelling or on a single property.

  • A maximum of two dogs
  • And no more than three cats

  • The registration is valid for one year from january 1st to december 31st and must be renewed annually. (See the following section.)

Citizens of Saint-Bruno-de Montarville

All cats and dogs owned by citizens must be licensed.

Licences are free, and tags cannot be transferred or exchanged.

Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville by-laws allow for a maximum of five pets at a time per dwelling or on a single property, regardless of the species, with no more than two pets of a given species (for example, a maximum of two dogs).

Citizens of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu

All cats and dogs owned by citizens must be licensed.

Dogs and cats must wear their licence at all times except for microchipped cats.

Licences are free, and tags cannot be transferred or exchanged.

The licence is valid from January 1st to December 31st and must be renewed every year before January 1st of the following year.

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu by-laws allow for a maximum of two dogs and three cats per dwelling or on a single property in urban sectors. In rural sectors, the number of dogs allowed is three and there is no limit to the number of cats.

Why is it important to register my pet?

All citizens are responsible for registering their dogs and cats with Services Animaliers de la Rive-Sud, which maintains the register of animals in its territory in accordance with municipal by-laws.
